Short Bio:

Louise M. Aamodt (rhymes with 'comet') has taught English Learners in public schools for over 25 years. As both a writer and a teacher, she loves igniting curiosity and making complicated concepts accessible. She can be found in the kids’ section of the library, or out watching bugs somewhere. Long Bio:

Louise M. Aamodt (rhymes with ‘comet’) is a veteran public schoolteacher who specializes in English Learners. As both a teacher and a kid lit author, her jam is breaking down—not watering down—complicated concepts to make them fun and accessible for all learners.

She’s always enjoyed writing, but Louise didn’t seriously start writing for children until 2006. As an active member of SCBWI (the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators), she regularly participates in writing conferences and critique groups. Her topics often require research, and the more she writes, the more she learns. The more she learns, the more she wonders and researches. Her very favorite kind of writing involves lyrical word choices, a touch of rhyme, and intriguing real-world topics.  

When she’s not teaching or writing, Louise can be found devouring stacks of picture books in the kids’ section of the library, where she admittedly takes more than her fair share of the new releases. If she’s feeling overwhelmed, she resets her brain by dabbling in arts and crafts or by spending time outside. She’s terribly proud of her pollinator field, which is a great place for another of her favorite activities—bug watching. Louise loves learning about other people’s experiences, and has traveled the world extensively. She now lives in Minnesota with her family and various critters nobody else wanted.
