Meet Louise

  • Louise Aamodt (rhymes with ‘comet’) is hooked on picture books and always keeps a bag of them nearby, with both new releases to study and old favorites just for fun. In waiting rooms, she’s the one adult reading kid lit instead of grown-up magazines. Her favorite books evoke curiosity about the natural world and instill hope in readers. The only thing she likes as much as reading picture books is writing them, usually while drinking copious amounts of tea.

Aamodt has been teaching for a quarter of a century, with students ranging from preschool through high school. As an active member of SCBWI she participates in multiple critique groups. She loves delicious word choices, organic gardening, traveling, country living, Oxford commas, and learning. She lives in Minnesota with her husband, sons, and assorted critters that nobody else wanted.

I could watch critters of all kinds for hours, like this centipede or leaf cutter ants in Ecuador!
